Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK)

recognizes that the body is a self-maintaining, self-correcting mechanism.
When health is lost, something is interfering with the body's adaptability and it is unable to cope with the different environmental stresses.
The exam is directed toward how the body is dysfunctioning, the cause of the dysfunction, and the therapeutic efforts that will enable it regain and maintain health.
AK is mainly a diagnostic technique.

Kinesiology

(from the Greek kinesis, movement):

Originally, the study of human and animal movement.
Over the centuries, the traditional form of kinesiology (biomechanics) has expanded to include konowledge of how the nerves stimulate muscles to move the bones to produce posture, balance and movement.

Exam is usually performed through muscle testing. This type of muscle testing is NOT used to evaluate the power or strength of a muscle; but rather how the nervous system is controlling the muscle.

The diagnostic techniques in AK allows Dr. Fiore to determine which body system is disturbed and which treatment modalities are best suited to correct the disturbance. The same techniques can be used post-treatment to confirm the treatment was appropriate, applied and effective.

The muscle test has 2 purposes:
The first, is to confirm the patient is able to strongly contract the muscle.
The second, is testing the patient's nervous system, "on it's own," to provide a little more contraction of the muscle than the patient can provide. The second part is the part that evaluates the 'Functional Integrity' of the nervous system.

The diagnostic techniques in AK allows Dr. Fiore to determine which body system is disturbed and which treatment modalities are best suited to correct the disturbance.
The same techniques can be used post-treatment to confirm the treatment was appropriate, applied and effective.

Treatments could vary from chiropractic, massage, osteopathic, meridian therapy, nutritional supplementation, improved gladular function, and exercise therapy.
